Say what you want about "Spectre" and "Quantum of Solace," but there's no denying that Daniel Craig has been one of the best James Bonds in franchise history. Critics point to his atypical portrayal of Bond as a reason to let him walk, but supporters argue that it is these differences that have helped the Craig-era Bond films become worldwide blockbuster hits. His iteration of the character stands apart for being a bit more grounded and vulnerable and that has helped reestablish the franchise as must-see cinema.

But will Craig be back for another go around? Recent comments made by the actor leading up to "Spectre" suggested that he was ready to step away (he told Time Out Britain in October he'd rather "slit his wrists" than film another Bond movie. Yikes), but Bond producer Barbara Broccoli isn't ready to let him go without a fight.

"In spring, we start again," Broccoli said in a recent interview to 20 Minuten. "I hope we can continue with Daniel [Craig]. I love him, obviously not just me but also the audience. I will try my best to keep him on."

Despite Craig's recent comments, it appears as if his decision is far from a sure thing. Clearly, Broccoli is prepared to go to great lengths to keep him on board for at least one more film and the fans will apply some pressure as well. It's hard to walk away from a final curtain call.

To you naysayers, I suggest you don't underestimate the producer's pull. Broccoli has produced every James Bond film since Pierce Brosnan assumed the mantle in 1995 (she also assistant directed two of the Roger Moore movies). Her father, Albert R. Broccoli, is largely credited with bringing Ian Fleming's original novels to the big screen, starting with the first Bond movie "Dr. No" in 1962. The Broccolis are practically a 007 dynasty at this point.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to Craig regardless of Broccoli does. But here's to hoping she can coax one more film out of the reluctant international man of mystery.
