In 2004, director Brad Bird ("Tomorrowland") and Pixar gave us "The Incredibles," arguably one of the best superhero movies to ever hit the big screen. In our era of sequels and franchises, fans clamored for a well-deserved sequel for years to no avail. But finally, they are getting it with "The Incredibles 2" expected to come in the next few years.

But will the follow-up match the original? That's a tall order for any film. Fortunately, Pixar is doing everything they can to recapture the magic of the first film, which is why they have brought back composer Michael Giacchino.

Bird, who is still writing the sequel and hopes to direct, revealed Giacchino's return via Twitter GIF earlier this week.

Giacchino's original score was praised by fans and critics alike and was the stepping-stone for a long and fruitful relationship between composer and studio. Since "The Incredibles," Giacchino has worked with Pixxar on "Ratatouille," "Cars 2," and "Inside Out." His work on "Up" even won him an Academy Award for Best Original Score.

This is good news for fans that want a fully-formed sequel and not just a half-baked attempt to continue a potential franchise. Unfortunately, "The Incredibles 2" is set for a June 21, 2019 release date. But hopefully that gets moved up once Bird finishes the script.

We'll keep you posted.
