Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley suffered a scary hit on Sunday which left him temporarily paralyzed on the field.  The 26-year-old was carted off the field and remains in the intensive care unit of a hospital, ESPN reports.

Finley sustained the injury on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.  Safety Tashaun Gipson made a tackle and connected with Finley's head.  Finley remained immobile on the ground before being carried off the field on a stretcher.  At the time, Finley was unable to move any of his extremities.

"He couldn't move at the time," Packers tight end Andrew Quarless said, via ESPN.  "So I just told him, 'Just stay here, just lay here, don't move.'"

While Finley remained in the ICU on Monday, there is positive news: Finley has regained almost all movement and feeling in his arms and legs.  Tests have come back negative so far, according to ESPN.  Another source told NFL.com that Finley is "going to be fine."

For his part, Gipson denied any unnecessary roughness.

"[It was] all shoulder," Gipson said, via ESPN.  "The crown of my head did not go down whatsoever.  It was a shoulder hit.  I don't know the place where it hit him exactly.  I just know I saw him break out of the middle.  He was running a slant.  I'm driving on the ball.  There's a collision, and he's down.  I really haven't watched the play, so I can't really tell you what happened.  I was just going out there playing physical."

Sunday marks the second major injury Finley has suffered this season.  In Week 3, Finley left the game with a concussion.
