An F-16 fighter jet crashed Wednesday morning as it was completing training drills in New Mexico, according to ABC News. The Fighting Falcon was a $25 million single seat jet that was originally from an Air Force base stationed in Arizona.

It fell around 8:36 a.m. and it's being reported that the "student" pilot was able to successfully eject himself before the jet crashed, however, he was checked in at a hospital shortly after the accident occurred, according to AZ Central.

"All indications at this point are that he's in good condition, but obviously, ejecting out of an aircraft going at a high speed, you want to make sure everything's squared away," said Matthew Hasson, spokesperson for the Luke Air Force Base.

The jet had been flying over the White Sands Missile Range and was not carrying any live munitions at the time.

The crash and the site are currently under investigation, as an Air Force team works to find out what caused the accident to occur, according to Reuters.

"They'll go out there, go through everything and determine what happened," said Hasson.

This is the second crash affiliated with the Luke Base since its previous accident in 2013, which was deemed a pilot error.
