Adele broke the Nielsen Music record of single-week record sales in the U.S. with her newly released third album "25," Vulture reported. The record was previously held by 90s boy band *NSYNC, who set the record in 2000 with the release of its sophomore album "No Strings Attached."

As of Monday, "25" had already moved 2,433,000 copies in a span of three days, according to Billboard. It surpassed *NSYNC's "No Strings Attached," which sold 2,416,000 copies in the first week of its March 26, 2000 debut.

"25" now holds the record of highest first-week sales since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music transactions in 1991, Billboard reported.

Adele released her album on Nov. 20 and still has three days left in the sales-tracking week, and it's estimated that the album could finish out the week by reaching 2.9 million in sales. The final report on full album sales for "25" is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 29, after Nielsen processes the weekly data.

Adele's third album already broke the record of fastest-selling album on iTunes, previously held by Beyoncé for her 2013 self-titled album, as previously reported by HNGN. Adele is also poised to claim the title of top-selling album of the year, previously held by Taylor Swift, Eminem and Justin Timberlake.
