Almost all of us have that nostalgic childhood memory of the time that we entered school and learned to doodle and color. Getting lost in the creative process is a wonderful experience. There's an artist in all of us, yearning to make the world more beautiful.

Why did we ever stop coloring? We should continue to color as adults, according to Ohio State professor Shari Savage. Coloring is a highly beneficial hobby; it encourages you to unplug and it takes you back to your young and fun-filled years.

As we grow older, we get buried in responsibilities and forget to nurture the artists in us. Thankfully, we now have adult coloring books, which differ from children's because the doodles have more exquisite and intricate details. Many of these patterns are done by professional artists.

Coloring is always fun. And it can even get more exciting by trying out these tips.

1. Expand Your Colors

Adult coloring books feature Mandalas, composites, and other sophisticated patterns, giving you the opportunity to play with more colors. Make your artwork more beautiful by equipping yourself with a bigger coloring box. Discovering more colors and mixing and matching hues is sure fun! Get to know screaming green, hot pink, melon, outrageous orange, electric lime, and many others!

2. Coloring Cards

There's something better than adult coloring books. Now released by some coloring book publishers, coloring cards have the same pattern as coloring books. A box of 24 cards contains patterns on one side and a dedication box on the other. They make perfect and personalized Christmas presents.

3. Color Coordinates

Kids are attracted to neon colors while adults prefer more subdued visuals. Make your artworks look subtle and elegant by choosing coordinating colors. Tones of pink such as wild watermelon, piggy pink, tickle me pink, and salmon should be combined with shades of violet such as plum, vivid violet, and hot magenta.

4. Complimentary Colors

You can also have fun with yellow, blue, and everything in between.

5. Light to Dark

Make flowers come to life by shading the edges with darker hues and the centers with lighter tones.

6. Etching

Always have a toothpick ready. Lighten dark areas by etching them with a toothpick.

7. Sharpen.

Always have a crayon sharpener. Keeping crayon tips sharp helps you stay within the lines.

8. Kneaded Erasers

You may find yourself playing with this one. Kneaded erasers are clay-like erasers that you can use on crayon stains.
