While people all over the world, many celebrities included, sent their prayers to those who died or were wounded in the Paris terrorist attacks Friday night, Rob Lowe is receiving backlash for his comments, which people believe were insensitive.

"Vive La France! #Paris," his first tweet read. "Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande," he then wrote, adding, "This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given. #Hollande."

The 51-year-old "The Grinder" star was quickly slammed for his criticism on French President Francois Hollande, who had just declared a state of emergency and closed the country's boarders, according to USA Today. Once Lowe realized people were calling him "insensitive," "heartless," and "inconsiderate" for his words, with some even telling him to "please stop," he later defended himself.

"Live in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers," he wrote, adding, "Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase 'Vive La France' is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don't misinterpret my words."
