As Prince George's Christening draws closer, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are preparing to announce the godparents they've chosen for their very special son.

Oct. 23 marks the big day, on which Kate Middleton and Prince William will tell the world of the people they've chosen to serve as godparents for their baby, but Hollywood Life insists that being the down-to-earth couple that they are, their choices may not all have royal titles.

Sources claim that the Duke and Duchess's choices will include old college friends and other close pals. These reportedly include Fergus Boyd, 31, who went to university with William and lived in the same residence hall as him and Middleton during their first year at Eton.

Hugh Van Cutsem, 39, has also reportedly been selected or is currently a big contender. William is already godfather to Custem's five-year-old daughter, Grace, who played the role of flower girl at the royal wedding.

As for Middleton, she may have selected Emilia d'Erlanger, 30, whom she attended Marlborough College with and was in the same social circles as Prince William. d'Erlanger helped the royal couple decorate their newly renovated palace residence, Apartment 1-A, and is also a longtime friend of Prince William's, having introduced Middleton around his social circle.

"They are rather unexpected off-the-wall choices for godparents - not the usual suspects of William's closest friends who we anticipated," a royal source told the Daily Mail, as the royal couple would prefer to choose godparents based on "loyalty" and "stability" as opposed to status.

Now that the royal couple are back to living at Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess can continue their royal duties while spending plenty of quality time at home with their son. Kate Middleton's next public appearance is scheduled for Oct.18, for a SportsAid charity event that strives to help young athletes build confidence in their skills.
