One person was killed and two others left injured after a shooting incident occurred near Penn Station in New York City early Monday morning, reported the NYPD.

The shooting was reported at around 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of 35th and 8th Avenue, one block of the major transportation hub, according to FOX's Cleveland associate FOX 8.

First responders soon arrived on the scene and declared one person, a 43-year-old, dead at the scene, while they rushed a man, 45, who was struck in the neck and abdomen, and a second victim, 48, who was struck in the leg, to Bellevue Hospital.

As the investigation into the triple shooting continues, access to public transportation in the area has become somewhat limited. Access to the A, C and E subway lines nearby has become difficult to access for some commuters since police have cordoned off much of the area, reported the New York Daily News. Furthermore, the M20 and M34A bus routes have been forced to make detours around the crime scene.

Officers were seen walking in and out of the a subway entrance next to the Starbucks after the shooting, as some believe the shooting took place inside the subway itself. That street corner was taped off, preventing any and all entry or exit for pedestrians.

Little information is known about the shooting, and police are unsure of a motive, reported NBC New York. Witnesses claim the shooting may have stemmed from a fight inside a fast food restaurant. Additionally, some sources say there were three assailants who were last seen fleeing the scene in a silver vehicle.

A description of the suspects, if there are any, has yet to be released.
