The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten off to a disappointing start as they are 3-3 so far. The Grizzlies have been a perennial playoff team in the recent past and are accustomed to better results than they have had so far. Grizzlies owner Robert Pera is reportedly not happy with the way things are going early this season and that means that head coach Dave Joerger is on the hot seat, according to Marc Stein of ESPN

In fairness to Joerger and the Grizzlies they have had a very difficult schedule to start the season as two of their three losses have come against the teams that were in last season's NBA Finals (Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.) The fact that the Grizzlies are losing is reportedly not the problem, it's the way in which they are losing as the loss to the Warriors was by 50 and the loss to the Cavs was by 30.

Pera is reportedly not going to wait long to "make a drastic change" and that is not only because of the big losses but there are other factors as well. Pera is reportedly not happy with the way Joerger is using his roster, not only now but also in the past few years. A couple of examples include the fact that Hassan Whiteside was cut twice and Pera wants Jordan Adams to get a chance at playing time but that hasn't happened yet.

The talk around the Grizzlies this season has also not been very positive as both Joerger and star point guard Mike Conley have made reference to the fact that the team looks old. The Grizzlies have been known for their defense in recent years but so far this season they have actually been bad on that end.

There have been reports in the past that Pera was not happy with the job Joerger was doing as he internally questioned his leadership and he even reportedly almost fired him back in 2014 until they turned things around. Memphis still has two games left on a road trip that finishes at Utah and at the Clippers so things could get worse before they get better for Joerger. As of right now it's not looking great for the head coach and if the Grizzlies don't pick up their play he will be out of a job sooner rather than later as their seems to be a sense of urgency in Memphis right now.
