The first trailer for perhaps one of the most hotly anticipated films of 2016, "Warcraft," debuted Friday afternoon and set the Internet ablaze.

"Warcraft" is based on Blizzard's extremely popular multi-player fantasy series, "World of Warcraft." The film takes place in the peaceful realm of Azeroth that is on the brink of war as its people face terrifying and dangerous invaders. Orc warriors invade Azeroth after they had to leave their dying homeland. In order to survive, the Orcs must colonize a different land or face extinction. Two heroes from opposite sides are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their families, their people and their homes, according to Variety.

The trailer debuted at BlizzCon, a convention organized by the developers and publishers of the video game series the film is based on, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"Right now, we just want to give everyone a sense of the breadth of the world, the kind of action that's involved, and a sense of the energy of the movie," said Duncan Jones, the director of the film. "As we go along, I'm sure we'll be introducing people to the broader spectrum of what this big, big film is."

"Warcraft" stars stars Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Robert Kazinsky, Toby Kebbell, Ben Foster, Ruth Negga, Daniel Wu and Paula Patton and hits theatres on June 10, 2016.
