Who knew Jimmy Fallon had such an extensive soap opera record? The host of "The Tonight Show" was joined by "Saturday Night Live" alum Martin Short on the late-night show where they discussed their short-lived time 90s soap opera, "Tensions", that included a special appearance by Steve Martin.

Fallon told the audience that the imaginary soap opera got canceled after only three episodes because the show was just too much.

"I remember the producers wanted to make every single moment as tense as possible," Short said. "They wanted it to be exciting for the viewers, I get it."

"It was too tense for no reason," Fallon said.

The fake soap saw Short and Fallon playing opposite of each other as a husband and wife named Maxwell and Lillian Van Der Bilt. Fallon took on the role of the man while Short played his long-suffering and frustrated wife who slapped him every chance she got.

"There were no women in Hollywood at that time," Short explained to the audience why his role was a female character.

Fallon managed to uncover all three lost episodes of "Tensions," including one that featured Martin in a guest role. The episode featured Martin as a mailman who was accused of sleeping with Lillian by Maxwell because he had shown up "every day for the past six months."
