A woman in Germany allegedly spontaneously combusted while she was sitting on a park bench, according to the Independent. In Flensburg, a woman believed to be in her 40s was sitting on a park bench when she began to become engulfed in both fire and smoke, which passersby believe originated from her own body.

One witness went on record saying that the woman was silent as she began to go up in smoke. Thankfully, one person who witnessed the terrifying scene was able to wrap his jacket around the flaming woman and put out the fire.

The woman is in critical condition after suffering intense burns from what appears to be her own body, The Local reported. Some are not so convinced that it was a case of human self-combustion though.

Ulrike Stahlmann-Liebelt, a prosecutor, is looking into the incident and making sure that no stone is left unturned, according to the Sun. There is currently still the possibility that the woman attempted suicide, plus one witness claimed that they saw two men flee the scene around the time of the so called self-combustion.

The case is still being investigated by forensic teams as well, who are looking for a cause of the flames, self-imposed or otherwise.
