Getting up in the morning is a challenge, but for many people, music seems to help kick-start the morning. There is actually a list of perfect "wake up" songs to rev up your early hours, and it's one that a psychologist has compiled by identifying data from Spotify.

In choosing the perfect "wake up" songs, Cambridge PhD candidate David M. Greenberg based elements like music build up, positive lyrics and strong beat, according to Business Insider Australia. He noted that the music has to gently start and then slowly build up to gradually help with waking up, and it must also come with positive lyrics to shift the mood from "grumpy" to "feel-good." The beat must also be strong, with emphasis from the bass and drums so that the mood is sustained further.

Of the songs, Greenberg's top pick is "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, which has all three required elements fulfilled, Metro noted.

"Science shows that music affects us in all types of ways, including emotionally, physiologically, and in the brain," said Greenberg, according to Refinery29. "The right music - like 'Viva La Vida,' by Coldplay, with its positive energy and strong momentum - can help you wake up, get energized, and tackle the rest of your day."
