Prince George's first Christmas is going to be a very special celebration. Queen Elizabeth will break tradition and open the doors of Sandringham to the Middleton family so both sets of families can spend the holiday with the royal baby together, the Daily Mail reports.

"This year's celebrations are set to be extra special after Prince George's arrival," a source told The Sun. "What better way to mark such a magical year than by having the whole family present? Kate is very close to her family. Any child's first Christmas is one no grandparent would want to miss."

Last year Prince William spent the Christmas holiday with Kate Middleton's family at their mansion in Bucklebury, Berkshire because she was still pregnant. Prince Harry also missed last year's celebrations because he was stationed in Afghanistan but is said to spend Christmas with the family this year.

Middleton's sister Pippa Middleton is also said to have been given an invitation. The Middleton's will be joining the majority of The Queen's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the celebration. The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla will also be at Sandringham.

This will be one of the first times that both families have been together since Prince George's birth. The families will be together next month for the royal baby's christening. According to reports the Duke and Duchess want to keep the christening small and intimate and have left a lot of people off the guest list.

The new parents have chosen The Chapel Royal for the event which is said to be a lot smaller than the Music Room at Buckingham Palace, where the royal christenings are normally done.

The Palace said there is no meaning behind the change in location but it's "simply a case of personal preference."

However, because the venue is much smaller that means a lot of family members, and high profile royals, won't be attending the christening.

"Prince William's aunts, Princess Anne and Sophie, countess of Wessex, have been left off the guest list," the Daily Mail reports.

The baby's great-uncles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were also reportedly left off the list.
