Former "One Life to Live" actor Nathaniel Marston is in critical condition after being injured in a car accident Friday near Reno, Nev., which left him with injuries that could reportedly leave him paralyzed from the neck down, according to the Wrap.

The accident's circumstances were not immediately clear, but it reportedly left Marston with a broken neck and shoulder, collapsed lung and fractured neck vertebrae.

Marston's mother, Elizabeth Jackson, took to Facebook several times after her son's accident to ask his fans for prayers and to update them on his medical condition.

"Please pray for my son Nathaniel Marston," she wrote Saturday. "He was in a car accident last night and is in the intensive care on life support. Back and neck broken in several places. Other internal injuries. Please pray that he will recover and walk again."

In an update early Sunday morning, Jackson said highway patrol and tribal police informed her that Marston was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of his accident. Another update stated that her son's doctors told her "if he lives he will be paralyzed from the neck down and will not breathe without a ventilator machine."

Marston is best known for his portrayal of Michael McBain on "One Life to Live" during a six-year stint on the ABC soap opera. He left the show in 2007. He also played Eddie Silva on "As the World Turns" and guest starred on "Castle," "White Collar" and "Blue Bloods."
