Dave Navarro - Jane's Addiction guitarist and former member of Red Hot Chili Peppers produced and features in a new documentary titled "Mourning Son," about the murder of his mother, Constance Hopkins Navarro.

Constance was killed in 1983 along with her friend Susan Marshall Jory when Navarro was only 15 years old. Constance's ex-boyfriend, John Ricardi, was convicted of the murders more than ten years later in 1994, having been on the run since the initial crime, according to NME.

"Mourning Son's" trailer starts with news reports of the double homicide before cutting to a shot of Navarro looking sullen while seated in the backseat of a car saying, "It changed my life forever."

The documentary includes footage of the trial of killer John Ricardi, who was caught after "America's Most Wanted" ran a story on the case. The film also shows the effect the murder had on Navarro and how he dealt with the loss, struggling with both fear and heroin addiction, Rolling Stone reported.

"It feels unreal to tell this story," Navarro says in the trailer, according to The Wrap. "I've never been one to not say what's going on with me emotionally, as an artist and a musician that's inherent ... that's what we do.

"It's the most profound moment of my life and I don't think I should just sweep it under the rug anymore. It was the darkest and most horrible moment of my life," he adds.
