Michelle Rodriguez has been casted to star in the new gender-swapping thriller "Tomboy, A Revenger's Tale" as a hitman who involuntarily goes under the knife to become a hitwoman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rodriguez, 37, will star alongside Sigourney Weaver, 66, who plays "The Doctor" that turns her character into a woman after she is double-crossed by gangsters, who she will later try to get revenge on.

Walter Hill, who is known for his films "The Warriors" and "48 Hours," wrote "Tomboy" and will also be directing it, according to Us Weekly. The film is based on a story by author Denis Hamill.

The "Fast and Furious" star is very used to kicking butt in action movies, so this role will be perfect for her. "I'm really picky about the parts I choose," she told NJ.com back in April. "I can't be the slut. I cannot be just the girlfriend. I can't be the girl who gets empowered because she's been raped. I can't be the girl who gets empowered and then dies."

This thought process may give her limited options, but she's okay with that. "I just said to myself, look, 'You're going to just have to create your own archetype, doesn't matter if you go broke doing it,'" she continued to say. "And I almost did go broke, twice! But people finally got it: OK, Michelle is not malleable, you're not going to influence her by shining fame and money at her, and they stopped offering me that sort of stuff...It's helped me and it's screwed me. I've stuck to my guns and I'm proud people get it."

"Tomboy" will mark Rodriguez's first starring role in a long time. It is set to start filming on Nov. 9 in Vancouver.
