The frustartions on the field for the Dallas Cowboys took a backseat to a tragedy off of it after this past weekend's game as former Cowboys running back Dennis "Strawberry" Morgan died during Sunday's NFC East matchup between the Cowboys and the New York Giants, according to a report from James Kratch of NJ.com. Morgan was 63.

Per State Police, Morgan suffered a heart attack. The former Cowboy and Philadelphia Eagle went into cardiac arrest during the game and was then transported to Meadowlands Hospital. He was declared dead at the hospital, per Kratch's report.

Morgan, a White Plains, NY resident, was selected by the Cowboys in the 10th round of the 1974 NFL Draft, according to his obituary. Prior to that, he played three seasons at Western Illinois and served in the U.S. Army, eventually receiving an Honorable Discharge for his service.

Morgan's NFL career lasted just one season and four games of another. It was highlighted by a 98-yard punt return recorded during his rookie season in Dallas. It stood as the record for longest punt return in league history for 12 years. To this day, it remains the longest punt return in Cowboys team history.

Morgan is survived by his brothers Troy and Charles, as well as his sister, Alice.
