Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson reportedly trained this offseason with a bullet lodged in his shoulder, according to NFL Insider Jay Glazer.

The Arizona running back was reportedly shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting in Orlando, Fla., in which one person was killed, according to TMZ. Johnson was home for the weekend to see family after training at Jay Glazer's Unbreakable gym.

Despite the bullet in Johnson's shoulder, he refused to give up on his dream. The former Titans running back was, at one time, one of the greatest at his position in the league, and he joined the 2,000-yard club in his second season in 2009.

Johnson always had breakaway speed, but his role and play seemed to be diminishing the past couple of seasons. Last year, with the New York Jets, was the first time in Johnson's NFL career he was held under 1,000 yards, and it looked like the former star back was not ready to fall on NFL depth charts just yet.

Glazer reportedly said Johnson should get the comeback player of the year award, according to TMZ. The NFL Insider and trainer wrote on his twitter account, "Chris Johnson should be an example to every player out there it's never too late to reinvent yourself."

Johnson is the Cardinals leading rusher this season, and his hard work is clearly paying off this season. He has 567 rushing yards so far, and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry - the second best average in his eight NFL seasons. The Cardinals are alone in first place in the NFC West at 5-2, and Johnson is undoubtedly a key reason for their success.
