After a lot of break up rumors, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are officially over. Earlier this year, the rumors were sparked when the couple, who had been together for almost four years after meeting in 2011 on the set of the first "Amazing Spider-Man" movie, started spending a lot of time apart because of their busy schedules, as HNGN previously reported. It has now been confirmed that the longtime couple broke up a couple of months ago.

"There is definitely still love for each other there," a source close to the couple told E! News. "They remain close and are on good terms."

"It just wasn't working," another source told Us Weekly.

In May, when the rumors really started to fly, a different source explained that it was just too hard for them to spend a lot of time together. "It was always a 'break' due to schedules," the source told E! News at the time. "They have been really busy, so they finally have had time to see each other again. They care for each other and always have the best time when together."

The 26-year-old actress and the 32-year-old actor were last spotted together in Los Angeles in August, but before that they had not been seen together since May, according to People.

The two were never very open about their relationship and kept particularly quiet on the details of their romance. "I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason - because it's all so speculative and baseless," Stone told The Wall Street Journal of keeping her personal life to herself when asked about their "break" in April. "I understand the interest in it completely, because I've had it, too. But it's so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don't talk about it."
