A new study has revealed that 1 in 3 people do not wish to meet their Facebook friends in person, in fact they would willingly spend time with only 10 percent of their virtual friends.

How often do you wish to meet your Facebook friends and how many? This is a known fact that out of the hundreds of friends on the social network list , people hardly interact with few and meet with less than a few. Now there is a study to back that up, which reveals that one in three individuals do not wish to meet their Facebook friends out of the virtual world. Users would willingly spend time with an average 10 percent of the people on their friends list.

So if you are wondering what makes them keep friends whom they do not wish to contact in real-life, it is simple. It is for entertainment. People usually sign on to their Facebook profiles to check what is exciting in others' lives. Whether someone broke up, got in to a new relationship, or even went on a vacation. But the basic fact is that people keep friends in their list regardless of making any actual contact is to get the hot gossip.

Some people also admitted that keeping friends on Facebook may come in handy at times when they need some help. Few people fear the consequences of cutting someone off their friends' list so they continue to remain friends on Facebook.

The study was conducted by VoucherCodesPro, which interviewed 2,863 adults over the age of 18. Although this is a very small number compared to 1.2 billion Facebook users, the data provides factual information to an extent, unless some would beg to differ.

"It seems with the results of this study, the old saying about keeping your friends close, but your enemies even closer, is definitely alive and well even in today's society with our reliance on the internet," defined George Charles, marketing director of VoucherCodesPro, according to Metro.co.uk.
