Lark Voorhies, the former star of the hit 90s teen sitcom "Saved by the Bell," has filed for divorce from her husband Jimmy Green, TMZ reported. The news comes just six months after the couple wed in a private ceremony in Las Vegas.

Voorhies, 41, asked the court to deny Green, 32, of any spousal support, according to TMZ. Green reportedly said his short-lived marriage to the former teen star had been a "nightmare from the beginning" and that their problems stemmed from the interference of Voorhies' mother Patricia.

"They can remain friends, but it's best they sever their marriage ties," Patricia told People about her daughter's divorce. "Lark is ready to move forward with her life and wishes him well with his life."

Voorhies filed divorce papers on Monday in Pasadena, Calif. The couple has been separated since Sept. 2, and Voorhies cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. The couple met at a networking event in Los Angeles in 2014 and tied the knot in April of this year. Patricia did not attend her daughter's nuptials and has been very outspoken about her disapproval of her daughter's relationship with Green.

Patricia placed a restraining order against her son-in-law in July, as previously reported by HNGN. She accused Green of being aggressive towards her and using gang signs during an argument. Voorhies defended her husband after she was asked if he was trying to take advantage of her during a July interview.

"No, he's not," Voorhies told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "We're selectively together for all the right reasons."
