Fox has tapped "Orange Is the New Black" star Laverne Cox to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" set to air next fall.

The Emmy-nominated actress will play the role originated by Tim Curry in the 1975 film when Fox reimagines the cult hit in a two-hour event special in 2016. The original movie is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" follows sweethearts Janet Weiss and Brad Majors, who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter's bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is holding an annual, Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of "Rocky Horror" - a fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank's desires.

Cox is best known for her role as Sophia Burset on Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" and will also star in the CBS pilot for "Doubt." She was the first trans woman of color to land a leading role on a mainstream scripted television series and continues to play a leadership role in the transgender community.
