Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year-old teenager who became an instant figure of controversy after police mistook his homemade clock for a bomb, was received at Sudan's presidential compound to meet with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.

The Sudanese president invited Mohamed and his family into the presidential residence in Khartoum, where he praised the boy for his intelligence and talent.

Apparently, this is not the first encounter of the president with the family, as Mohamed's father, Mohamed Hassan al-Sufi, was a former presidential candidate who ran and lost against Bashir last year, International Business Times reported.

The dictator, who has been president of the country for 26 years, is also known to have outstanding arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for allegedly "orchestrating genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur," The Inquisitr reported.

His country also allegedly served as a sanctuary to Osama bin Laden for five years during the 1990s, and the U.S. has imposed a variety of sanctions against Sudan, according to The Washington Post.

Mohamed was still delighted to meet Bashir and even told the president that he hopes to come back and visit with a new invention and more success to share, BBC News reported.

He has also received invitations from other influential people and organizations, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, NASA, and even U.S. President Barack Obama.
