Aaron Tveit will be back on television next summer in CBS’s new series “BrainDead,” the network announced on Thursday. Tveit has spent the last three summers starring on USA Network’s recently cancelled “Graceland,” and will star as Danny Zuko in Fox’s live musical event, “Grease Live,” in January.

The upcoming comic thriller comes from “The Good Wife” creators Michelle and Robert King and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She will play Laurel, a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer whose first job in Washington D.C. and discovering two things: 1. The government has stopped working, and 2. alien spawn have come to earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of Congressmen and Hill staffers.

“We’re thrilled that Aaron will be joining BrainDead,” the Kings said in a statement. “We’re huge fans of his work — he’s spectacular on stage and screen — and think he’ll be a fantastic opponent-slash-love-interest for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.”

Disney Channel announced it has commissioned a sequel script for its hit original movie “Descendants” from screenwriters Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon. The first movie drew 6.6. million viewers on the night it premiered.

Fox Orders Additional Scripts for “The Grinder” and “Grandfathered”

Fox has ordered six additional scripts for its Tuesday comedies “The Grinder” and “Grandfathered,” according to Deadline. The announcement came just a couple hours after “Grandfathered” star John Stamos was formally charged with a DUI and could face up to six months in prison.

NBCUniversal Launching Digital Comedy Channel Seeso

NBCUniversal will debut a new streaming comedy channel in January 2016. The ad-free subscription will cost $3.99 and will feature exclusive, original series and stand-up specials from Dan Harmon, Upright Citizens Brigade, Cameron Esposito, Wyatt Cenac and more.

The channel will also feature the complete collections of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “Saturday Night Live” as well as the entire series of “The Office,” “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation.”

Warner Bros. Developing A TV Series About Michael Jackson’s Final Days

Warner Bros. Television Group has signed a development deal with Tavis Smiley to develop scripted TV series for broadcast and cable, according to Deadline. Two of the projects will adapt Smiley’s books: the upcoming “Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days,” about Jackson’s final 16 weeks of life, and “My Journey with Maya,” a memoir about the author’s 30-year friendship with Maya Angelou.

FX Orders Donald Glover Comedy “Atlanta”

FX has ordered a new comedy series created and starring Donald Glover titled “Atlanta.” The show will revolve around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene. The first season will feature 10 episodes and premiere in 2016.
