Lamar Odom was found unresponsive on Tuesday night at a Las Vegas brothel in an apparent drug overdose and the former NBA player is currently in critical condition and fighting for his life.

On Wednesday, there were reports suggesting that Odom was working extremely hard to get back in shape for an NBA comeback and was in talks with the New York Knicks about returning as a player, as HNGN previously reported.

However, the Knicks apparently have zero interest in re-signing Odom as a player. Although likeable as a person, the team - particularly Phil Jackson, who was head coach when Odom played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2004-2011 - the Knicks never made an offer for the former basketball player or even considered the idea of bringing him back, according to a source, TMZ reported.

The Knicks signed Odom in 2014 but waived him shortly after with Jackson explaining that Odom was "unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player."

"Lamar Odom was one of the greatest people I've ever known," said former Lakers teammate and New York Knick's head coach, Derek Fisher, according to NBA. "That's the way I see him. I don't see him through the prism of choices he has made. I view him through the heart and soul of the person he really is. I'm obviously hoping he can pull through this, [and] in some fortunate way, this becomes the beginning of a different ending.''
