AMAs 2015: Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran Are Top-Nominated Artists For Upcoming American Music Awards

Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran all came out on top as the artists with the most nominations for the 2015 American Music Awards (AMAs), Billboard reported. The ceremony is set to kickoff at 8 p.m. on Nov. 22, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by actress/superstar Jennifer Lopez on ABC.

Taylor Swift's mega successful "1989" album earned her six nominations, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist, and Favorite Album (Pop/Rock) for "1989," according to Billboard. Breakout star The Weeknd, and pop-crooner Ed Sheeran trailed just behind Swift with five nominations each, and will each face off against her in the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year categories. Sam Smith, Nicki Minaj and Meghan Trainor are all tied with four nominations each.

Joe Jonas (whose brother Nick Jonas is nominated for Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock) and Charlie Puth (whose collaboration with Wiz Khalifa is nominated for two awards) announced a shortened list of nominations during Good Morning America on Tuesday morning.

Artists are chosen for AMA nominations based on album and digital single sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring, according to Billboard. Winners are chosen solely based on fan voting, and polls are open now.
