Sony's PlayStation 4 is a modern day marvel, allowing owners to use it for an assortment of activities like watching Netflix, playing Blu-rays or gaming. However the system has one major flaw: it has no infrared sensor, meaning that it's incompatible with a regular remote. This problem has been now been solved with the release of Sony's Universal Media Remote.

Since the PS4 was incompatible with a regular remote, users were forced to use the default controller to navigate through streaming services and other apps the console offered, reported The Verge. The controller can handle the games it was designed for, but the dual-stick layout became cumbersome at times when handling anything else.

Now, with the release of the Universal Media Remote, through the use of Bluetooth, users will be able to turn on the Playstation 4, navigate its UI and control various apps such as Netflix, HBO GO and Twitch, according to the New York Daily News.

The full list of apps the remote will be compatible with at launch are:

Blu-ray Disc Player

• Crunchyroll

• FUNimation

• HBO GO

• Media Player

• NBA GAME TIME

• Netflix

• NFL Sunday Ticket

• PlayStation Video

• PlayStation Vue

• Twitch

• YouTube

Along with the PS4, the remote will also be capable of controlling three additional devices, including a TV, a cable box and audio receiver.

The Universal Media Remote is already available at Gamestop for $29.99, and will be available in the U.S, Canada and Mexico at other retailers for the same price later this month .
