Microsoft has integrated the Pinterest image collection with its Bing search in an update announced Wednesday, October 2.

In its continuous effort to grow as a leading search engine, Microsoft has made several changes to its Bing search in recent months. Now, a new collaboration between Pinterest and its search engine will bring users relevant images from around the web and Pinterest collections. The right hand side of the page will be dedicated to images from Pinterest boards, while a major section of the page will still be for web search results.

In an announcement  Wednesday, Microsoft revealed that the most interesting pictures around the web are collected by people rather than computers. "On sites like Pinterest, passionate curators can build up a collection of ideas that shows off their unique style," Jon Noronha, Nevin Yang and Deepak Santhanam, Program Managers at Bing Image Search, wrote in the company's blog. "We started to ask ourselves, what if we could have the best of both worlds, combining the power of algorithms with the taste and judgment of real people."

The new feature can be a useful integration for regular Pinterest users. Bing's latest move follows the previous update, which allowed users to "pin" photos to the Pinterest board directly from image search.

If you are looking for Goldendoodles on Bing, it will display the usual images on the search site in addition to the best pictures taken and uploaded on Pinterest. Similarly, searches for wedding dresses and Halloween costumes will bring relevant results from Pinterest and around the web. The integration gives a more realistic opinion for what users might be looking for on the internet.

Microsoft is constantly trying to improve its Bing Search platform to dethrone Google, but it would be too early to take on a giant like Google. Last month, the software giant also modified the Bing search engine with a new logo, stunning interface, modifications to existing features and some other features to go head to head with the Google search engine.

Yahoo has been a strong contender in taking the crown from Google. In July, Yahoo took a lead over Google in maximum U.S. Web traffic for the month.
