Demi Lovato showed off her acting skills and her all-around badass side in the video for her new single "Confident," the title track for her upcoming album, Vulture reported.

The action flick-inspired video, directed by Robert Rodriguez, gives off a strong female empowerment vibe and proves that Lovato is a triple threat: she can kick butt as well as act and sing.

The video opens with movie-like scenes of U.S Marshals entering a maximum-security prison. Agents retrieve Lovato from her cell, and she still manages to look hot in a prison jumpsuit and messy bedhead. The pop star is taken down a hall in handcuffs and placed in a questioning room as the first couple lines of the song play.

She signs a pardon that will allow her to go free if she finds another wanted fugitive, played by "Fast and the Furious" star Michelle Rodriguez. Lovato is branded with a tracking number and she's sent on her mission, complete with fight scenes and a plot twist.

Lovato released the video after promoting it heavily via her social media accounts. Shortly after the video dropped, the pop star announced that her fans (known as the Lovatics) could now stream previews for her upcoming album "Confident," which is scheduled for an October 16 release.

"Previews for the entire album are now available on @iTunes!!!! What song are you most excited for??!? https://smarturl.it/dlca1 #CONFIDENT," Lovato tweeted.
