A Houston man is facing charges of assaulting a family member after a video and several 911 calls came in witnessing him driving on a highway with his eight-month pregnant ex-girlfriend clinging onto the hood of a stolen SUV, according to Click 2 Houston.

Anthony Escobedo allegedly took the keys out of a hotel room that his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Alvarado, was borrowing from a friend, the New York Daily News reported. When Alvarado found Escobedo sitting in the car with another woman, she yelled for him to get out of the vehicle, but he sped off instead. Alvarado later found the stolen vehicle and Escobedo at a nearby gas station and, although eight months pregnant, jumped on the hood of the vehicle, holding on to the windshield wipers as an anchor.

Escobedo drove off anyway, at speeds of 25 to 30 mph, swerving left and right, according to witnesses trying to dislodge Alvarado. As Escobedo continued towards the highway, he drove another mile with Alvarado clinging to the hood.

"I was thinking this lady is trying to stop this car, she is in the middle of the freeway, in front of the car, it has to be something serious," said Anthony Rodriguez, a passing motorist.

"She was holding onto the windshield wipers and he was dodging left and right trying to let her off," Rodriguez said.

As other drivers called 911 and one took the horrifying video, Alvarado eventually fell off the SUV and was picked up by a passing motorist who witnessed the whole incident, driving her to a gas station to call 911 herself.

Paramedics picked up Alvarado while Houston police found Escobedo at a nearby apartment complex with the stolen vehicle.

The 31-year-old victim, 32 weeks pregnant with Escobedo's child, suffered minor cuts and bruises, and health care officials found the baby to be unharmed, The Blaze reported

Escobedo, 33, currently faces misdemeanor charges.
