Rupert Murdoch apologized Thursday for a comment that inflamed social media Wednesday night. He cried "Apologies!" after receiving harsh criticism for the controversial tweet, according to the New York Daily News.

"No offence meant. Personally find both men charming," said Murdoch via Twitter Thursday. As HNGN previously reported, Murdoch used Twitter the night before to make a plea for a "real black President." He was tweeting about Ben Carson, a contender in the Republican primary race, and seemingly comparing him to President Barack Obama.

Many people fired back in response to Murdoch's tweet. Some even attacked Fox News, which Murdoch owns. "I did note that Mr. Murdoch tweeted an apology this morning. I also noted that a Fox corporate spokesperson was asked about this and said something like, 'I'm not going to quote on Mr. Murdoch's tweets.' And I'm not going to either," said White House press secretary Josh Earnest, according to Yahoo News.

Murdoch could not be reached for an official comment, according to the Guardian. Murdoch has weighed in on this and other presidential campaigns in the past, and has been known to use Twitter to express his political opinions.
