The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its list of nominees for 2016, and it includes artists from many different genres of music. For the fourth consecutive year, the public will get to vote alongside artists, historians and insiders from the music industry that make up the Rock Hall's voting pool, according to Rolling Stone.

This year's list of 15 artists up for the induction includes eight first-time nominees such as Janet Jackson, Chicago, Steve Miller, Chaka Khan, Cheap Trick, The Cars, The J.B.'s, and Los Lobos. Acts that are nominated again are Chic, who is up for the 10th time, Deep Purple, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A, The Smiths, The Spinners and Yes.

In order to be eligible to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists must have released their first album or single within the last 25 years, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Last year's Hall of Fame inductees included Green Day, Lou Reed, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and Ringo Starr.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2016 will be announced in December with the induction ceremony set for April 2016. HBO will broadcast the ceremony later in the year.
