"American Horror Story" returns tonight for another new season, this time called "Hotel." FX's horror anthology series takes place in modern day Los Angeles at a hotel called The Cortez. In the series, The Cortez was built in 1930's by a serial killer named James March, but in modern times the hotel serves as home to a blood sucking villainess named the Countess.

Ever since "Hotel" was announced in in early 2015, spoilers, rumors, casting news and clips have slowly been released in anticipation for tonight's upcoming premiere. Here is everything that is known about the new season of "American Horror Story."

Lady Gaga as The Countess

This season, Lady Gaga is taking over the leading role reigns of "American Horror Story" from Emmy Award winning actress Jessica Lange. Lange previously appeared in the first four season of the FX show. On "Hotel," Gaga plays the owner of the hotel known as the Countess. She is a glamorous socialite whi has an ancient blood curse that causes her to lust after fresh blood. The Countess attends fabulous dinner parties and hosts fashion shows at the hotel. She survives off a diet of blood and sex and kills with a very fashionable, but sharp glove.

"She's extremely strong," explains Gaga of her character, according to Entertainment Weekly. "She's been through so much. It's kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her."

While it sounds like the Countess is a vampire, co-creator Ryan Murphy does not like to look at the character like that.

"I prefer the term 'ancient blood virus,'" Murphy says of her affliction. "It's really a form of hemophilia, in a way."

Matt Bomer as Donovan

After starring in one episode of "American Horror Story: Freak Show," Bomber is back for "Hotel" in the role of Donovan, the Countess' lover for over 20 years. Donovan also has the same disease that she has and craves fresh blood. Donovan has a very complicated relationship with the women in his life and is in the middle of a love triangle with the Countess.

"He's very interested in domesticity and sort of nesting and hunkering down and having her to himself every now and then, and that doesn't go over so well with her limitless hunger," Bomer says of his character.

Angela Bassett as Ramona

Bassett is back for her third season of "American Horror Story" after she joined season three's "Coven." This season, she is playing Ramona, another old lover of the Countess. Ramona does not live at the hotel but has a "strong, real last relationship" with Gaga's character. Ramona is an actress and one of the few characters in the show that does not live at the hotel, but she visits very often. The Countess previously hurt Ramona in an unknown way, and now she is out for revenge along with Donovan!

"They are powerful women at opposite sides and at odds with one another, each believing that they're right," Bassett explains of Ramona.

Finn Wittrock as Tristan

After receiving an Emmy nomination for his work in last season's "Freak Show," Wittrock is back as a male model named Tristan. Tristan has a drug problem and catches the eye of the Countess at a fashion show at The Cortez. He makes up the third part of the love triangle between the Countess and Donovan.

"He's got an addictive personality," Wittrock says. "I think he's hypersexual also. It makes him a prime candidate for the Countess' charms and he is very willingly seduced and then turned by her."

Sarah Paulson as Hypodermic Sally

Paulson is a veteran actress of "American Horror Story" and has been around since the first season. This time around, she takes on the role of Sally, a drug addict and friend of the Countess who calls The Cortez her home. Sally crosses paths with all the addicts living in the hotel.

"She's selfish," says Paulson. "She will put a stiletto in your face if it means she can get what she needs. But she's also like a broken rag doll."

Kathy Bates as Iris

Like Bassett, Bates joined "American Horror Story" during its third season "Coven." In "Hotel," Bates plays the mother of Donovan, Iris. She runs the front desk of the hotel and cannot stand the character of Sally.

"Iris is overprotective with a capital O, especially now since her son is ill. She wants to be there every day to make sure he's all right, and she's very controlling that way."

Max Greenfield as Gabriel

"New Girl" star Max Greenfield is playing Gabriel, a Hollywood junkie in his first season of "American Horror Story." Gabriel is also a drug addict who checks into the hotel and has one unforgettable experience with Sally and one of the monsters of the season known as "The Addiction Demon."

Gabriel and Sally are featured in a scene that Murphy called "the most disturbing scene we've ever done." The addiction demon looks as though his eyes and mouth are covered in melted wax and wears a conical metal dildo.

"Ryan gets real pleasure out of how far, I think, he can push it. And when we were doing that stuff, he was happy and he was scared. We all were. And it was a good vibe on set because of that. I think we were like, 'F- yeah, man. Let's push this and let's see how far we can go," says Greenfield of the scene.

Evan Peters as Mr. March

Peters is back for his fifth season of "American Horror Story" as the builder of The Cortez hotel, Mr. March. March built the hotel in the 1930's and will appear in flashbacks to tell the story of the hotel's origins. March is deeply charming but also very psychotic and is a serial killer. He built the hotel as a labyrinthine structure with hidden rooms and dead ends to hide his dark activities.

"He's the builder and owner of the hotel from the 1930s, and he is unique," says Peters. "He's designed a hotel to cater to his specific needs, which tend toward the dark evil."

Wes Bentley as Detective John Lowell

Bentley appeared in a couple episodes of last season's "Freak Show" and is back this year as a police detective who checks into the hotel in order to investigate a series of murders. Detective Lowe is trying to catch a serial killer known as the "Ten Commandment Killer," who arranges its victims according to biblical dates. Lowell brings his family with him into the hotel, and they all get sucked into the darkness of The Cortez.

"He has a family he loves very much but that is sort of falling apart," says Bentley. "He struggles with a lot of things. It's clear most of what John struggles with is control."

Chloe Sevigny as Alex Lowell

Sevigny is returning to "American Horror Story" for the first time since season two's "Asylum." This season, she plays the wife of Detective Lowell and has just suffered a great loss. When her husband moves into the hotel to investigate the Ten Commandments killer, she checks in with him along with their daughter Scarlett.

Cheyenne Jackson as Will Drake

In his first season at "American Horror Story," Jackson plays the role of fashion icon Drake, who arrives from New York and moves into the hotel with his son Lachlan. Drake has come to Los Angeles looking for inspiration and gets sucked into the drama of the hotel by the Countess herself.

"He comes to the hotel and he is going to turn part of it into his atelier and of course he gets sucked up into the Countess," says Murphy of the Drake character.

Dennis O'Hare as Liz Taylor

O'Hare is another "American Horror Story" alumnus who has been with the show for all five seasons. This season, O'Hare plays the bar maid of The Cortez. He is a cross dresser who is obsessed with the actress Elizabeth Taylor and is close with Iris.

"I'm playing a person who is inspired by the awesomeness of things like Butterfield 8 and Cleopatra and eye makeup like that. And I shaved my head for the part and other body parts. I work in the hotel, I work with Kathy, and I work in the bar," O'Hare says of his mysterious character.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
