Director Guillermo del Toro gets points for dedication.

Universal Studios may have halted production on the sequel to "Pacific Rim," but del Toro is pushing forward as if it's business as usual. Specifically, the mind behind the upcoming "Crimson Peak" has been musing about potential casting and is apparently dead set on getting "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams signed for the eventual follow up.

"Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday," del Toro wrote on his official Twitter feed. "Remarkable. Dammit - if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaegar." "If" is most certainly the key word here. Del Toro has remained upbeat about the potential for a "Pacific Rim" sequel though all signs point to the projects being kept in the junkyard with the discarded Jaegars.

As far as Williams is concerned, it's great that she's getting this type of attention from big name directors. Her co-star Sophie Turner is taking on the role of Jean Gray in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" so hopefully it's only a matter of time until Williams, a very talented young actress, gets a franchise role of her own.

Since Universal announced its plans to shelve "Pacific Rim 2" for the foreseeable future, del Toro has said that his next film will be a smaller, low-budget drama. We're all for Williams getting a role in that film as well.
