Warner Bros. announced recently that J.K. Rowling would be writing another book in the world of Harry Potter. Although it won't feature Harry and the gang the new book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be a spin-off to the series. Now more patent claims from Warner Bros. are hinting at more spin-off opportunities.

According to Bleeding Cool the production house has claimed several of the books mentioned throughout the Harry Potter series. Among these are others from the fictitious author of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"  Newt Scamander. "The Tales of Beedle The Bard," "Quidditch Through the Ages," "The Quidditch teams Wimbourne Wasps," "Chudley Cannons Kenmare Kestrels" and "Kennilworthy Whisp" are all among the patents recently claimed by Warner Bros.

While this doesn't necessarily mean there are plans for more spinoff books, or even films, it is nonetheless the first step toward the production of them. However, as IGN points out, this could just be a case of Warner Bros. protecting its assets. It's possible that one of these books will come up in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." On the other hand, it could be the first step toward a new slew of spin-off films from the world of Harry Potter. The patents are designed in such a way that they cover any and all mediums

Rowling announced last month that she will be making her screenwriting debut as the author of the film adaptation of the book written by her character Net Scamander. The film will be an original story centered on the supposed adventures and cataloguing of magical creatures in the world of Harry Potter. Fans who are hoping that there will be a wink to the original series will likely be disappointed as the author has said already that she is pleased with where she and the fans left Harry at the end of "The Deathly Hallows."
