Former NFL defensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp on Thursday entered a plea of no contest in Las Vegas Justice Court on charges of domestic violence, according to an Associated Press report. The plea was part of a deal that allows Sapp to avoid jail time as a result of the incident.

The incident in question occurred in June and involved Sapp's now ex-girlfriend. The pair reportedly engaged in a scuffle at a casino hotel swimming pool after downing margaritas. As a result, Sapp plead guilty to one misdemeanor domestic violence charge. Two other charges were dismissed.

Per the AP report, Sapp was charged with pulling the woman's arm or purse during an incident in April at the M Resort in Henderson, then knocking her down later at her Las Vegas condominium.

Sapp was fined $345 and compelled to pay $2,555 in restitution. He must also, per the AP, log 48 hours of community service and six months of counseling, as well as "stay out of trouble for six months."

He has also been ordered to stay away from the victim and faces up to six months in jail if he violates that order.

Sapp, 42, played professionally for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. As a result of his repeated legal issues, including a recent arrest in Phoenix during the week leading up to Super Bowl XVIX, Sapp was fired from his job as an analyst for the NFL Network.
