CBS has asked every day Americans to survive on deserted islands and race around the world. The network will increase the stakes in its latest reality competition series, "Hunted."

CBS ordered the new one-hour reality series, which challenges its participants to go on the run while some of the world's most highly skilled investigators and trackers pursue them in a nationwide manhunt.

"'Hunted' is a compelling new alternative series format... that feels tailor-made for CBS," Glenn Geller, President of CBS Entertainment, said about the British import series. "It combines the suspense of a crime drama with the thrill of a competition reality series and some very topical social issues."

The show will force ordinary people to try and disappear in a world where everything is connected by technology. The professional investigators will combine state-of-the-art tracking methods with traditional tactics to narrow down the search area. They will use everything from searching the target's home to scouring their Internet and cell phone records as they try to search for clues on possible hiding places and collaborators.

CBS will announce how to apply to participate at a later date.
