DICE, the developer behind the upcoming "Battlefield 4" Multiplayer that will ship with the game later this year has detailed the seven unique multiplayer game modes that will be featured at the launch of the new title.

According to a post on the Battlefield Official Blog, the seven different game modes will be playable across 10 maps with varying numbers of players, depending on which platform you play on and which game mode you want to compete in. The game modes will be a mix of new and time tested older modes.

Conquest mode is described as "The quintessential Battlefield mode," is currently playable in the Battlefield 4 beta and is designed for up to 24 players on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The player cap will be raised to 64 once the game comes out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Domination, which is also playable in the game's beta, according to IGN, is a fast-paced variant of Conquest designed for more close quarters combat. In fact, when it was introduced in the previous "Battlefield 3" it was called "Close Quarters." It is designed for infantry-only, no vehicles. It can handle a smaller load of players, only 20 at a time. However, the trade-off is that the maps will likely be smaller, giving gamers the chance to get up close and personal with their enemies.

Obliteration, one of two new game modes in the new title, will pit both teams against each other to pick up a bomb, drop it off at one of their opponent's three objectives, arm it and destroy said objective. This means that to accomplish all of these steps, good teamwork is required. "Since there's only one bomb at a time, you will often find yourself going from attacker to defender in the blink of an eye," EA Games said in its description. Obliteration is playable by 24 players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The player cap will be raised to 32 on next-generation Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The other new game mode is also designed to be a smaller more intimate affair between competitors. Defuse puts five team members against five enemies. Each person has only one life per round. The game is won in two ways. You can either eliminate all the enemies on the map or arm and detonate a military objective that they own.

The final three game modes include the standard Team Deathmatch, which is designed for 20 players across all platforms. Rush makes its return for 24 players on Xbox 360 and PlayStaion 3, it too will bump up to 32 players on next-gen consoles and PC. Finally, Squad Deathmatch, designed for 16 players across all platforms will be included on the game's beta release.
