"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" may be the headlines grabber when it comes to Warner Bros' DC Extended Universe, but "Suicide Squad" may just end up boasting the most noteworthy performance. Jared Leto's take on The Joker has been incredibly divisive since director David Ayer unveiled the first image of The Clown Prince of Crime. But whether you're excited about this new iteration or not at all on board with the changes, everyone is at least interested to see how it all turns out.

Leto himself has been teasing fans on social media about his character. At a recent concert for his band 30 Seconds to Mars, Leto expressed his excitement for the Joker to hit the big screen.

"I can't wait for you to see this - they're going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out," Leto said, according to Heroic Hollywood.

Now while this obviously doesn't clue fans in to any story details, it does offer a singular perception of this new Joker. Leto's Joker appears to be centered around insanity. We realize every iteration of the Joker is somewhat insane, but there are variations to his level of crazy on screen. Whereas Jack Nicholson's Joker was a gangster and Heath Ledger's was an anarchist, Leto's appears to be a full blown psychopath. The actor did reportedly send co-star Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) a rat as a present, after all.

Ayer has done a great job of minimizing the Joker's exposure thus far; all fans have gotten are a few still images and his brief (yet totally unnerving) appearance in the trailer. As a result, anticipation is rising with every passing story about "Suicide Squad." If Leto can be believed, his version is going to be one for the ages!

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016 with "Suicide Squad" following up on August 5 of that year.
