NASA has announced that it has uncovered one of the biggest mysteries about Mars. The findings will be revealed on Monday, Sept. 28, at a news briefing at 11:30 a.m. EDT. The event will be held at the James Webb Auditorium located in the NASA Headquarters and will be broadcasted live on the NASA Channel and a streaming on the website as well, according to NASA.gov.

The NASA Mars announcement is believed to give people a broader understanding of the Red Planet. Jim Green, Director of Planetary Science at NASA, together with Michael Meyer, the lead scientist for the Mars Exploration Program, are some of the experts taking part in the announcement, CNN reported.

The inclusion of experts in the event should serve as a huge clue as to what kind of announcement they are going to make. The presence of Lujendra Ojha, an expert that discovered in 2011 how the craters of Mars display evidence of liquid salt water during warm seasonal flows, and Alfred McEwen, who co-authored a paper with Ojha on how the dark images on the terrains of the planets is actually flowing water, has led people to speculate that the announcement will be about how Mars has actual flowing water or even an ocean below its surface. This announcement could eventually lead to "surprisingly abundant liquid water" existing near the planet's equator, The Heavy reported.

These clues are some of the sources of speculation about what the NASA Mars announcement will be about, but others are also expecting to receive news about how Curiosity found other intelligent life forms on Mars, or at least hint of small, micro-organism that exists on what seems like a lifeless planet, according to the Examiner.
