This year's Oculus Connect conference for virtual reality developers dropped a major bombshell on it's audience Thursday: the Windows 10 edition of "Minecraft" will launch "next year."

While the start of the conference's second day was short on new game announcements, this one immediately got everyone's attention, according to Ars Technica.

In an announcement made by Microsoft, it stated: "Players who already have the PC edition of 'Minecraft' will be able to download the Windows 10 beta version free."

It continued, saying users could download "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition" for $10 throughout the beta period. Players who download the game during the beta phase will continue to have access to the game even when it is out of beta, and receive all future updates to the game at no additional cost.

This marks the second time "Minecraft" has been made compatible with a VR device, reported the International Business Times. The first time was back in June at E3 2015, where the game was seen in 3-D for the first time using Microsoft's own VR headset, the HoloLens.

While this is great news for fans, there is just one catch: the release date. The release for the newest iteration of the blockbuster game is still unknown, with an indefinite 2016 time release as the only given indicator.
