Hugh Jackman's time playing the "X-Men" character Wolverine is sadly nearing its end. The question of who should replace Jackman when his tenure as the character is over has been asked more and more frequently, and Jackman has finally weighed in on who he thinks his replacement should be.

Jackman was asked in a recent interview with MTV who he thinks could play a younger, re-imagined version of the character Wolverine. Jackman says that he believes British actor Tom Hardy would make a fine choice.

"I haven't really given it a lot of thought," Jackman said. "I've been asked that question a lot, and I'm always like, 'I don't wanna make it too easy on the studio to replace me,' you know? I've still got one more to do. I'm sure they're already talking about it, and there's some actor [they've told] 'shh, keep it quiet but we want you next.'"

After Jackman thought about the question a little more, he suggested Hardy.

"He's younger than me for sure," Jackman said. "I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine."

Hardy is also the frontrunner for another hero in a film franchise, as he is one of the favorites to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig following Craig's eventual departure from the movie series. While Hardy is a frontrunner for the role of Bond, many believe that Idris Elba would also make a great 007.

Jackman's final time playing the Wolverine is set to hit theatres in 2017, according to Entertainment Weekly.
