I’m very much looking forward to “Reign” and all of the medieval scandal and betrayal it will bring. As I mentioned before, the show centers on magic and young love—two things at which The CW excels. That being said, here are three things I’m looking forward to seeing in the first season of “Reign”:

No. 1—The Craftiness of Mary

I can’t wait to see Derek’s little sister from “Teen Wolf” play the smart and resilient young Mary. The plot describes her as “beautiful, passionate, and poised” and I want to see her use those characteristics to outsmart the Queen and anyone else attempting o take her life. It will also be interesting to see how she and her ladies-in-waiting survive from episode to episode and what tactics they use to do so. Now, don’t get me wrong she’s no Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) but I think she’ll prove a formidable foe for anyone that stands in her way.

No. 2—A Showdown Between Brothers

Although at first it appears that the young Prince Francis is uninterested in Mary, something tells me he will eventually change his mind. I don’t think I’d be wrong in assuming he and his brother Bash end up competing for the Mary’s love. It wouldn’t be the first time that happened on a CW show.

No. 3—The Evil Queen

While she most likely doesn’t have the magic of Regina (Lana Parilla) from “Once Upon a Time”, Queen Catherine is going to be more than a problem for Mary and her friends. It’s a safe bet Mary doesn’t die in the first season (or possibly any season) but watching the various ways in which the queen tries to make that happen should be entertaining.

“Reign” premiers Oct. 17 at 9/8c on The CW.
