Joan Collins still can't believe that her sister, best-selling author Jackie Collins, passed away on Saturday at 77-years-old after privately battling with stage four breast cancer for six-and-a-half-years.

Jackie chose to only tell her three daughters, Tracy, Tiffany, and Rory, that she was diagnosed with cancer, so up until about two weeks ago, Joan had no idea. "She was very shocked," Jackie told People in what ended up being her last interview. "She had no idea. But she was great. We were emotional." As for why she waited until so close to the end to tell her sister, Jackie said, "Because it would have really affected her. I just felt she didn't need it in her life. She's very positive and very social but I'm not sure how strong she is, so I didn't want to burden her with it."

Joan, 82, is "completely devastated" that her sister is gone. "She was my best friend," she said following her death. "I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and beautiful person and I love her."

Joan also took to Twitter to express her love for her sister. "Farewell to my beautiful brave baby sister," she wrote alongside a photo of the two as children. "I will love you and miss you forever. Rest in peace."
