Target has recalled more than 175,000 water bottles sold exclusively sold at its chain due to an apparent choking hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed.

The recall involved 178,000 of Zak Designs' 26-ounce bottles, which were sold by Target as part of a "Back to College" promotion, reported True Jersey. The bottles come in an assortment of colors and are decorated with pictures of iconic characters from comic books and movies.

According to the CPSC, there have been nine reports of the flip-top portion of the cap breaking - including seven instances of children needing to spit out fragments of plastic. No injuries have been reported

The bottles are 10 inches tall, and those with a black twist-off cap and black inner straw are not included in the recall.

Children are urged not to use the bottles. Consumers can contact Target or Zak Designs to receive a free replacement cap with straw, according to NBC's Texas affiliate KRISTV.

Zak Designs can be contacted at 866-737-1148 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or online at www.zak.com. Users click on Product Recall found underneath the "Shop" category at the bottom of the page for more information.
