Eric Gordon was once a top college recruit and considered one of the best NBA prospects in the nation. Gordon is still just 26 years old but so far his career hasn't lived up to what many had hoped and that is mostly due to injuries. In his seven year career Gordon has missed an average of 33 games per season and that has really deprived him from becoming the player that his talent says he could become. Heading into the 2015-16 season Gordon is reportedly healthy and ready to go, according to Nick Weldon of SB Nation.

After being drafted seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2008 NBA Draft Gordon looked like he was on his way to superstardom. Gordon had his best year in his third season with the Clippers when he averaged 22.3 points per game but he was then part of the package sent to New Orleans for Chris Paul. After getting to New Orleans things went downhill for Gordon as he only played in nine games in his first season there and still hasn't regained his old form.

Last season Gordon played in 61 games and averaged a career low 13.4 points per game. On the positive side Gordon did shoot a career high 45 percent from three last season but overall his production was way down. To be fair last year's New Orleans Pelicans were likely the best team Gordon has ever played on but he is still one of the most talented players on the roster and should probably be more of a focal point.

This season Gordon is going into training camp as healthy as he can remember and he expects to get back to his old self. "If I am healthy I can still go back to the player I was," said Gordon. It will be interesting to see what kind of production the Pelicans will get out of Gordon because they have some guys that can really score. Anthony Davis is the clear go-to-guy but after him Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday and Gordon are all capable of putting up big numbers. Gordon may be the best of those three and if he remains healthy he could form a devastating duo with Davis to make the Pelicans a very dangerous team.

The Pelicans are coming off a year in which they made the playoffs despite a down year from Gordon and Holiday missing most of the year so if they can keep those guys healthy and at the top of their game they have the talent to compete with anybody in the league. Davis is the Pelicans' superstar player but Gordon might be the key to an improvement this season and he seems to be healthy heading into training camp which is a good early sign.
