The Miami Dolphins have signed running back Raheem Mostert from the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad to their 53-man roster, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com.

Mostert leaving the Eagles is a bit of a blow, as he was huge for Philadelphia in the preseason. In his last preseason game with the Eagles, Mostert rushed for 69 yards on 15 carries, while also making eight receptions for 93 yards.

The Eagles likely didn't want to let go of Mostert, but there is only so much room on a 53-man roster. The Eagles already have DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, and Kenjon Barner. With this amount of depth at running back, it is difficult to make the decision of who to keep, but head coach Chip Kelly went with Barner over Mostert. It's not as though the Eagles backfield will be hurting without Mostert, as they likely have the best three-combination of backs in the league, but if an injury happens to one of these players then his loss seems much bigger.

Neither the Eagles nor the Dolphins have confirmed this transaction, but the deal is already done, according to NJ.com.

The rookie running back out of Purdue will likely have to adjust to Miami's system, but look for Mostert to probably pick it up quickly. The Dolphins are in need of a run game as they struggled against the Redskins Sunday.

The Dolphins won the game 17-10, but lacked a strong rushing attack. Lamar Miller was the Dolphins leading rusher, but he only managed 53 yards on 13 carries. Damien Williams also saw a carry that gained no yards. As a team the Dolphins rushed for a total of 74 yards, and that will need to improve for them to be a playoff team.

Head Coach Joe Philbin likely noticed the lack of a running game, and knew he needed to address it quickly. In comes Raheem Mostert, a rookie running back with little experience, but what he showed this preseason for the Eagles could bring hope down to Miami.
