UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is slated to star in MGM's upcoming remake of the 1989 film "Road House," Variety reports. Rousey is expected to play a female version of the Patrick Swayze character from the original movie.

Production on the remake is scheduled to begin sometime next year as the studio is currently looking for a writer to pen the screenplay.

"It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many," Rousey wrote on Twitter. "I couldn't be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze...I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of."

Rousey has leveraged her successful fighting career into a burgeoning film career with appearances in recent blockbusters such as "The Expendables 3," "Furious 7," and the "Entourage" movie. She is set to play herself in Paramount Pictures' adaptation of her own New York Times best-selling autobiography, "My Fight/Your Fight." Rousey has also been campaigning on social media for the role of "Captain Marvel" in Marvel Studios' upcoming first ever female-led superhero film.

The original film followed Swayze's bouncer character who is hired to clean up a wild bar in Missouri called "The Double Deuce." Although the film grossed just $30 million, it would develop a loyal cult following over time.

Here's to hoping Rousey can inspire that same level of admiration in her remake.
